Adult Lessons

Goal:

The Goal of the Program is to increase an individual’s competency level in French by providing opportunities to speak, read and write in French. This unique program is specifically designed to meet needs of each individual by assisting them in eventually attaining a Superior level of French Proficiency as measured by the New Brunswick Oral Proficiency Scale.

The six levels of instruction:

  • Beginner
  • Intermediate
  • Intermediate Plus
  • Advanced
  • Advanced Plus
  • Superior

Please note: Prior to the first lesson, each person will begin with an initial Language Needs Assessment and will be required to complete a Canadian Language Portfolio for Teachers. This will allow the program to be completely designed around the needs and the abilities of each individual. Each lesson will occur in a virtual classroom in a 1:1 setting.

The course content is designed to model current best teaching practices in literacy. Each level will include lessons that will focus on the following:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Purposeful Instruction 
  • Purposeful speaking and listening
  • Vocabulary, Grammar in context 
  • Modeled Reading and Writing
  • Shared Reading and Writing
  • Guided Reading and Writing
  • Independent Reading and Writing

Cost:

Plan A:

10 hours at 50$ = 500$. Please note that this price includes the Language Needs Assessment that will be administered at the beginning of the Program and a copy of the Canadian Language Portfolio for Teachers. The Language Needs Assessment will provide each participant with a clear understanding of what they need to do to improve their oral and written proficiency. Each participant will also be required to complete the Canadian Language Portfolio for Teachers (Le portfolio canadien des langues pour enseignants). Based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) created by the Council of Europe, this tool will allow each participant to ascertain objectively the level of his/her competencies in French, to set up a course of action tailored to his/her own needs and to monitor the evolution of their competencies.

Plan B:

20 hours at 45$ = 900$. Please note that this price includes the Language Needs Assessment that will be administered at the beginning of the Program and a copy of the Canadian Language Portfolio for Teachers.
